Mara Brock Akil gets the Green Light
(Mara Brock Akil)
At a time when television shows are lucky to last a season, Mara Brock Akil has struck gold not once but twice. Both her CW network series, Girlfriends and its spinoff, The Game, were given the greenlight for another year, with Girlfriends approaching a history-making 8th season.
(Golden Brooks, Tracee Ellis Ross and Persia White, of Girlfriends)
(Tia Mowry, star of The Game)
With her series Girlfriends, Akil became one of the youngest female African American television creators and remains as one of only a handful currently working in television today. Mara continues to make TV history and doesn't look remotely close to stopping anytime soon.

Yeaa, I was hopping they would give girlfriends another shot next year, and oh me gosh the season finale of The Game was off the hook! Im glad to see they got big sister on there now can't wait to see what she'll bring to the show next season.
I never really got into The Game but I've been watching Girlfriends since it was on. They almost lost me when they got rid of Toni but they got it back properlike. I'm glad that Mara gets to keep the shows on cause I really wouldn't have nothing to watch if Girlfriends got cancelled. Thank god its still on.
Girlfriends, has lost its flavor since Toni left. They need to add a fourth. My vote is for Peaches.
Okay I have been searching to find out if the show was coming on for another season. IM SO GLAD.
It won't really have effect, I think this way.
