The Golden Globe Awards Sings a New Tune

From The Cocoa Lounge

64th Golden Globe Nominees

The Nominations for the 64th Golden Globe Awards were announced today and it seems the stars are more colorful than ever before. Not only were a number of our favorite black stars lauded with nominations but Latina, American Ferrera, (of Ugly Betty) and Masi Oka (of Heroes) received acting nods as well.

Lol @ Kango

Yes, it's a film from the UK, Kinky Boots. The film and Chiwetel's performance have both received rave reviews.

I'm so glad that you mentioned this, because I was just commenting the other day about how movies always depict whites as "the great White Hope" and it's starting to tick me off. Yet another movie is coming out about a white person who goes to the "streets" and saves poor, afflicted with violence YET oddly talented children...while also going through trying times at home themselves. I want to puke. This one is called "Freedom Writers" I mean...how many times "metaphorically have we seen this movie"? I'm about to write about it.

I wonder why Hilary Swank is even in that one. I thought she was supposed to be an "a list" actress.

My girl loved Dreamgirls. I went to sleep after Jennifer Hudson sang "You're Gonna Love Me" or is it "And I'm telling you?" You get the point.
