Movie News: Black Panthers in (and out of) love?

A Black Panther love story set in the late 1970s starring Mos Def and Sophie Okonedo? Say it is so.

If the project goes as planned, Okonedo and Mos Def will star in the independent film, Stringbean and Marcus. First-time filmmaker Tanya Hamilton, who also wrote the story, will direct.

Sounds like an interesting plot: the drama of the politically-charged panther party mixed with a love story? We know it's tough to get an independent film off the ground but we certainly hope this one's a go!

Mos Def is such a good actor. He's tryna be the next Denzel. I haven't seen Hotel Rwanda yet but I hear Sophie ain't so bad herself.

How cool is this?!

Perfect casting as well. Mos Def has really transitioned. . .

And Sophie, well, she rocked it in Hotel Rwanda. . .

Can't wait for Stringbean and Marcus to come out. I love sophie and mos def and its about time for a real love story about black people and social issues, not just romantic comedies.
