Project Runway's 5th Strut

runway
(A design from Christian Siriano, winner of Project Runway: Season 4)

We thought Season 3 of Project Runway had seasoning, but Season 5 is already simmering with its own pot of flavor.

With the most contestants of color we've ever seen in a single episode, Bravo's last season of Runway (season 6 is saying Aufedersein and moving to Lifetime) is one of its most diverse yet. Designers, Jerell Scott, Korto Momolu and Terri Stevens are hoping a stint at "must see tv" can make them must-wear designers.

Will either of these posh hopefuls make it to New York's illustrious Fashion Week? Watch What Happens.

Season 5 premieres tonight.

Jerell is foine! If project runway put more Jerell's on the show I might watch more often for the eye candy.

I love Tim Gunn. He's the main reason I watch. He's so classy and funny. I hope they hold on to him when it goes to the lifetime channel.

  6. I love your blog as well, and I think it's great that the show is adding more spice to it but throwing some color in there. It's nice to know that our people are finally shining all over the fashion industry and not just behind the scenes. I mean we got the Naomi's, the Tyra's, and Tyson's and what not but it's not enough. I'm guessing once people start seeing more of what Bianca is all about then things will be different. This brown sista' is definitely doing her thing and she doesn't even have to be on the runway to shine. You think Project Runway is exciting...you've GOT to check out Toyota's new "If Looks Could Kill" series. I can guarantee you'll be hooked.

The webisodes follow an aspiring fashion assistant, Bianca Turner (played by Femi Emiola, Wicked Wicked Games), who is a prime example of a woman who’s got it going on. I’m talking the dream job, a man who’s got all the ladies drooling, and the spice to keep it all together when hell hits the fan. Think James Bond meets Sanaa Lathan in “Something New”, Bianca is the girl who isn’t afraid to run in her Louboutin heels!

The fifth episode-Devil In a Blue Dress- has been available since 7/14, but it's not too late to catch up and tune in. I work with Toyota, so take my word for it.
I'm sure that you will be reeled in, so don't be surprised when you are. Also, don't forget to hit me up with the scoop on your thoughts, or comments from others, about the webisodes.

    Looking forward to the chit-chat!

I would have to agree with you that this season is the most black designers ever casted on the show! I am excited to see if any of them last! Great blog by the way...check out mine at catalystpgh.blogspot.com!

  8. Love it! Love it! Love it! So far so good that know one is starting to back stab one another. One thing that I can say about Project Runway, is that they show diversity on the runway and models of color are working!
