Coming Soon: Bury Me Standing

Coming Soon: Bury Me Standing

Not only are we ecstatic that two of our favorite thespians (Kerry Washington and Mos Def) are reportedly in production on the flick, Bury Me Standing, we're equally thrilled that this indie vehicle is being driven by up-and-coming writer/director, Caran Hartsfield and super-producer in the making, Effie T. Brown.

Coming Soon: Bury Me Standing

The early synopsis of Bury Me Standing is a dramedy of a family coping with the death of a young relative. (That's all we've got, folks.)

Our hats are off to the next generation of black women filmmakers getting gems like this story told.

Be on the lookout for our profile of 10 up and coming African American Female Filmmakers in the weeks to come. If you know of deserving candidates email us @ thecocoalounge@yahoo.com.

  8. Aren't Mos and Kerry Washington perfect together? Both are indie film staples and that's what I love most about 'em.

Plus, if Mos Def is actually able to pull off his Ultimate Emcee Battle in New Orleans (with the likes of Jay Z, Kanye and Black Thought) he'd go down in history as a hip hop god. *Keeping those fingers crossed* I would love to see that happen.

Charece - We use Photoshop for most of our images, it's about the best software ever made.

  13. Anonymous,

We are sorry that you feel that way but please use the term "racist" with caution. This website, though a celebration of black women, has never promoted hate against any other races of women, or people for that matter, and never will.

We are aware that it is rare to see the depths of black womanhood celebrated frequently in one place, and may be jarring to individuals who are used to different, but The Cocoa Lounge prides itself on keeping unkind words, hate, and criticism far from the pages of this site.

    Thanks.
