The Fugees creep back into the mainstream

Recent developments suggest The Fugees are slowly but surely making a return to the spotlight:

Lauryn Hill does a tell-all cover-story for Essence magazine; The group is heavily featured on new Verizon commercials for ringtone downloads of their latest single, "Take It Easy"; Lauryn and Wyclef are both up for 2006 Grammy Awards (Lauryn for her John Legend "So High" remix collaboration and Wyclef for his work on the Hotel Rwanda Soundtrack); And the group is performing in the states again. Their first stop: The House of Blues in Hollywood as a part of the Grammy Awards celebration.

Many are speculating whether the Fugees will ever be able to match their late 90s success, with new groups like the Black Eyed Peas already filling the two-guys-and-a-girl-hip-hop-trio slot. Lauryn Hill fans are just anxious to hear new studio material from the reclusive star.

Whatever the outcome, Ooh La La La, the Fugees are back (well, kind of).
